AKRONInmate recapturedAKRON: An inmate who walked away from the Mansfield Correctional Institution on Wednesday is back in jail.Authorities said Jeffrey Lewis was found in Akron and taken into custody without incident at 10 a.m. Thursday.Lewis, 25, of Akron, was incarcerated Oct. 4 on two counts of receiving stolen property. He was expected to be released March 2, 2013.Lewis was noticed missing from his work assignment at the facility’s garage at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday.As the investigation into the incident continues, individuals with information regarding Lewis’s activities while at large should contact the State Highway Patrol at 877-772-8765.Additional chargesAKRON: State authorities have charged five more people in the investigation of an Akron convenience store at the center of the alleged $2.2 million food stamp fraud case. The investigation involves the West Market Deli at 587 W. Market St. Mustafa A. Diab of Akron, Ghalib Ali of Copley, Nathanael J. Nicolino of Akron, AnthonySwindell of Akron and Christopher R. Bryan also of Akron were arrested for illegal use of food stamps.Those charged after a September raid at the store included: Mohammad W. Shped, 49, Zobaydah N. Shped, 41, and Muaad N. Salem, 33, all of Strongsville, and Cory A. Oille, 37, of Akron, are charged with three counts each of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. Agents with the Ohio Investigative Unit and Summit County sheriff’s deputies say the scam took place for more than three years and involved food stamps; Women, Infants and Children benefits; and stolen property. Authorities searched the store in September. The post is empty following the resignation last month of Melanie Timco.“Fred knows the students in this district,” said Superintendent Randy Boroff, “and this will mean a smooth transition [at Revere Middle School].”“The parents, teachers and students in the district are excited to have him back,” said board president Bill Hoover.Tomei spent 34 years with Revere Schools.He was first hired in 1977 as a teacher at Richfield Elementary School.In the 1990s, he served as acting assistant principal at the high school then he moved to Hillcrest Elementary School, where he was interim principal before taking over as principal. Calls were then connected to appropriate Summit County Children Services staff.WOOSTERWarrant issuedWOOSTER: Police have issued an arrest warrant for the fatal shooting Dec. 10 on East North Street — the city’s first homicide of the year.Wooster police are attempting to locate Lashuan Reed, 23. He is a black male, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 170 pounds.His last known address is 716 Quinby Ave., Wooster.Clifford J. Johnson, 21, of Wooster, died after he was shot in the upper right back, according to the Wayne County Coroner’s Office.Anyone with information about Reed’s whereabouts is asked to contact detectives at 330-287-5702.
